GYBI Teaching Professional
Through a lifetime of growth within golf, Ryan has
developed a true sense of passion for the essence of the game and the individuals
that choose to play it. As an early
student of George Kelnhofer, Ryan learned the swing structure of the greatest
ball strikers throughout the years and continued to hone his skills while working
under George at Atlanta Golf Center in Norcross, GA. He walked in the footsteps of Bobby Jones and
Ryder Cup greats as he looped the fairways of East Lake Golf Club guiding
members, professionals, and CEO’s around the hallowed grounds.
After a successful playing career with the Atlanta Junior Golf Association and Shiloh High School, Ryan was the inaugural recipient of the 1996 Wayne Reynolds Scholarship from Druid Hills Golf Club (est.1912) and attended Emory University where he graduated with a BS in Psychology and co-major in Human & Natural Ecology. During his time at Emory, Ryan learned what it takes to succeed in competitive golf as he played for the Men’s Varsity Golf Team who finished in the top seven teams at NCAA Division III Nationals three out of the four years of his collegiate career.
After moving to Orlando in 2000 Ryan worked as a Golf Professional for Walt Disney World’s Palm/Magnolia, Lake Buena Vista, and Bonnet Creek Golf Clubs. While at Disney, Ryan directed the Junior Golf Program providing kids from 3 – 16 the opportunity to learn the game of Golf while also providing over 400 private lessons to golfers of all ages. Following Disney Ryan continued his passion for instruction as Head Professional for Twin Rivers Golf Club where he managed and operated his own teaching business. He later served 10 years as Head Professional for ChampionsGate Golf Club where he partnered with the World Headquarters of the David Leadbetter Golf Academy and managed four PGA Tour events hosting major champions and legends of the game such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino, Greg Norman, Bernhard Langer, Ray Floyd, and David Love III as they played alongside their family in the Father/Son Challenge.
Over the years Ryan has been like a sponge soaking up knowledge of how the golf swing works from some of the greatest players and coaches in the game. However, his true joy comes from sharing this knowledge with his friends, family, and students. In short, his greatest goal is to plant the seed of golf swing understanding in your heart as it has been planted into his.
We are pleased to welcome Ryan to our staff as our Lead Professional Golf Instructor. Please stop in to say "hello" and help us welcome him to our team! Ryan a natural teacher and he looks forward to helping you Golf Your Best!
